Yoga: Fit in a Minute
Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, July 16 and October 29, 2006 Show 318
A lot of people practice yoga, but what they're doing may vary. There are dozens of different forms of yoga from the very gentle to the very strenuous. Most are a form of Hatha yoga, combining physical movements, meditation, and healthy eating. In yoga, balance is key, both mental and physical. Yoga strives to reduce stress by combining breathing exercises and meditation. The stretching and various postures will increase your flexibility while the more vigorous movements can be quite physically demanding. As in all fitness programs discipline is important. Strive for consistency, regularly incorporating yoga practices not only into your exercise routines but your entire life. You can learn more about yoga by finding a personal instructor, taking a class, or even following a book, audio tape, or DVD. Now, often young people practice a more vigorous or physically demanding form of yoga, but if you're older, out of shape, or just beginning, you might consider a quieter form.
