Your children's rooms are places where they can be themselves. And if that room hasn't been updated since they were toddlers, it might be time for a change. Redecorating a room can be a lot of work, but it's also a great opportunity for some fun and creativity. Every good project starts with a blueprint. Have your child draw you a picture of his ideas for space, including what colors he likes and where the furniture should be. For a little inspiration, flip through some fabrics or paint chips. When your kids create their own original décor it can be a lot more fun than buying it. Let your child pick out four patterned or colored fabrics that match the room scheme. Cut foam board into four 12-inch squares then simply wrap the fabric around it, staple it to the back and add a fun ribbon for hanging. Kids love to chalk up the walls. And chalk fabric gives them free reign to do it. Attach the fabric directly to the wall or mount it on a board for hanging. And if they really want to get their hands dirty, let them paint. Fabric paints can be used to decorate pillows, or strip an old bookcase or a desk and let them use their imagination to turn it into something brand new. You'll be surprised at what your kids come up with when you give them a blank canvas and a little creative freedom.
