Your baby spends a lot of time in the nursery, especially in his crib and to keep him safe it's important to pay attention to those little details. Those curious little hands love to grab and tug, so remove all strings from their pacifiers or clothing. A cord wind up will keep extra drapery cord out of the way or tie it up out of their reach. Your furniture should be free of sharp edges, so pad any exposed corners with soft foam and to keep them from falling over, tall book cases or heavy changing tables should be secured to the wall. Your baby's crib is the most important piece of furniture in the room. But it can also be the most dangerous. Safe Kids Worldwide recommends buying a crib that meets National Safety Standards. Look for juvenile products manufacturers' association certification. When you bring your new crib home, inspect every inch for loose screws or brackets. The guardrail should lock easily. Keep the mattress tight fitting and remove toys, pillows and loose items. Your baby will be free from danger and you'll be free from worrying.
