So you have a headache? You're not alone. But before you reach for a pain reliever, did you know there could be some harmful interactions with other medications? Dr. Lisa talks with Walgreens pharmacist Tabarius Smith about his important subject.
Tabarius Smith, PharmD:
Certain over the counter pain relievers known as NSAIDs or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, can have adverse reactions with prescription or other over counter medications.
Dr. Lisa:
And this is where talking with your doctor and pharmacist is so important.
Tabarius Smith, PharmD:
Yes, because they can recommend specific pain relievers that have low risk of drug interactions. And interaction warnings can be found on the packaging.
Dr. Lisa:
And if you're taking other over-the-counter medicines, dietary supplements, vitamins or even certain foods, these may have potential interactions. Your doctor or pharmacist can help.
