Virtual Colonoscopy:Health Story
Aired on Lifetime TelevisionSunday, April 22 and June 3, 2007Show 410
More than 130,000 Americans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer every year. "Colon cancer is a preventable disease, but it's still the second most common cause of death by cancer because people don't want to get screened," says Dr. Amy Hara. The best chance for a cure is when the disease is caught in its earliest stages. And fortunately, there's a new test called a colonography that may convince a lot of people to get screened sooner. Unlike a tradition colonoscopy, doctors can see the entire colon, even in and out of all the little folds where cancer could be hiding. And this new test is also less invasive; most patients are in and out in about an hour!
