Having a child with a disability means special care, equipment and therapy. Financial assistance can help, but following the maze to find it can be a challenge. "Navigating my way has been a long journey and I've really been like a lot of other parents, left completely to my own devices," says Linda, a care giver for her son Ryan who has cerebral palsy. "When you have a child diagnosed with something like cerebral palsy, or downs or MD, the social workers, the hospitals, they basically give you a diagnosis, some nutritional information and send you on your way," says Linda. Despite everything Linda has been through, her love for her son has, and always will, remain strong. Dr. Jamie Huysman says, "I think she's done so much right, in spite of what she's said about the hospital role just basically diagnosing and sending her out without a plan. You know, that love of that child is so evident there, and that love can take him so many places."
