Michaela Powell:
After school I have basketball, play practice, music lessons and homework. When I get in bed at night, I try to fall asleep, but I can't. What's up with that?
Dr. Lisa Thornton:
I know what you mean, Michaela. I sometimes have trouble falling asleep, too. And sometimes it's because I'm really busy during the day. In your case, and so many other kids out there, after school activities can kind of get you really wound up and you need to be able to kind of calm down a little bit before you go to bed. Having a routine of sort of going to bed at the same time every night, turning down the lights, really helps us to get in the mood to go to sleep.
