Your kids may be on vacation from homework, but they should never be on vacation from learning, especially when it comes to safety. So before they hit the warm weather, make sure your kids know the safe way to play. "Safety really needs to be a top priority this summer. Safe Kids Worldwide wants to be sure you and your kids throughout all your summer activities know how to make it a safe kid's summer," says Injury Prevention Manager, Bridget Clementi. Your kids should not only know the importance of a helmet and other protective gear when riding their bike or skateboard, but also the proper way to wear it. The same goes for a life jacket when you're out on the water. Your kids learn by example, so make sure you and your children always wear the proper size and type life jacket. Or if you're spending a day at the beach or at the pool, make sure you're watching them at all times. And the best way to keep an eye on your kids, join in on the fun. Safety shouldn't just start when you arrive at your summer destination, it should also happen on the way there. When riding in a car, children 12 and under should always sit in the back seat and everyone should buckle up. Make it a fun and memorable summer this year and keep it safe.
