Is it possible to administer good health care with limited resources? "Everything is possible with a purpose," says Dr. Lisa-Ann Wuermser a volunteer with a mission in Honduras. Dr. Lisa learns in a valuable one-on-one with Dr. Wuermser, Director of Acute Spinal Cord Injury at Northwestern, how she is helping to rehabilitate lives one at a time. In this Health Corner, we also learn from Dr. Michael Holick, author of the "The UV Advantage," that vitamin D deficiency is epidemic in adults and kids. Astoundingly, this simple vitamin is responsible for not just healthy teeth and bones, but also organs and plays a major role in preventing diseases. Then, Alex Boylan introduces us to super chef Jeffrey Jackson of Torrey Pines Resort who prepares a hearty, organic, cold weather minestrone soup. Jill Repp warns parents that kids lacking sleep are on a slide to disaster. Plus, image consultant Florida Perry Smith gives advice on achieving dazzling white teeth.
