Diet Trends: Health Story

Aired on Superstation WGN
Saturday, January 22 and March 5, 2005
Show 203

Almost 25% of the population in Honduras lives on less than $1 dollar a day. The people are poor but proud. "We try to administer the best care possible with limited resources," says Honduras volunteer Dr. Lisa-Ann Wuermser of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. "When we diagnose those with disabilities for rehabilitation programs we need to be creative and use basic skills since there are no high tech instruments to depend on here. Through our work teaching people how to function and have normal lives, we are changing one life at a time. This is my mission – why I spent years in training to take care of people," says Dr. Wuermser of her work in Honduras.
