Dr. Lisa-Ann Wuermser:
Dr. Lisa's Interview

Aired on Superstation WGN
Saturday, January 22 and March 5, 2005
Show 203

"Your rehabilitation work with disabled people in Honduras is remarkable. How did you get started?" asks Dr. Lisa. "My husband went on a church mission trip to Honduras and when he came back we decided to take rehabilitation teams there,' says Dr. Lisa-Ann Wuermser of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. "People with disabilities in the Honduras are stigmatized. They are marginalized. We try to provide rehabilitation so that they can lead normal lives," says Dr. Wuermser. "What wisdom would you like to leave us with?" asks Dr. Lisa. "These are wonderful warm people despite incredible poverty. Maybe we can learn something from that."
