Aired on Superstation WGN

Show 206
"Cholesterol levels are as important for women as for men," says Dr. Donnica Moore, a highly regarded expert on women's health who has been featured on Oprah, The View and has been a commentator on NBC News. "What are the risk factors connected with high cholesterol?" asks Dr. Lisa. "There are two risk factors you can't change. They are age and family history. But there are other factors you have some control over such as smoking, being sedentary, being overweight, diabetes and high blood pressure. Paying attention to these risk factors can help to lower LDL, triglycerides and total cholesterol," says Dr. Moore. "And what is the newest report on estrogen?" asks Dr. Lisa. "It's used to treat menopausal symptoms, not to treat heart disease," says Dr. Moore. "What is the most important thing that women should know about cholesterol?" Dr. Lisa asks. "Know what your cholesterol levels are!" says Dr. Moore.
