"African-American women have more risk factors for heart disease – more diabetes, and 80% more obesity than other womEn," according to Dr. Anne Taylor, a cardiologist at Mayo Clinic. "Why?" asks Dr. Lisa. "They are less aware of the risks and might not be referred for the appropriate care in a timely manner. Knowledge is power. We need to educate. Body weight is a health issue." "What is your number one message to women about their hearts?" asks Dr. Lisa. "Heart disease is preventable. Know your personal heart risks and how to reduce them."
