Organ & Tissue Donation:
Dr. Lisa's Interview

Aired on Lifetime Television
Sunday, June 18 and August 20, 2006
Show 316

Dr. Lisa's inspiring heart-to-heart talk about organ and tissue donations with Jack D. Lynch, director of Community Affairs at Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network. "Aren't there misconceptions about the waiting list for donations?" asks Dr. Lisa. Jack assures her, "The list is fair. It's color-blind, and name-blind. It's how long you've been on the list, and how sick you are." "Some people think that if they are an organ donor, doctors might not do enough to save them," Dr. Lisa says. Jack tells her that, "only when a person is brain-dead do they call in someone for organs." "How many people can one person save by donating?" asks Dr. Lisa. Many it seems. "There are multiple organs, and then there is skin, tissue, veins, eyes, so many possibilities," points out Jack. You too can give the gift of hope.
