There's good news about menopause. You can relieve symptoms and help maintain a healthy weight by participating in regular physical activity. Hot flashes can hit you anytime, anywhere. But by walking, biking, swimming, or even working hard in the yard, your estrogen levels increase and your hot flashes can become less severe.
Depression and anxiety are also unpleasant side effects of menopause and staying active can help with both. Exercise has been proven to reduce stress and improve your mood.
And you'll be in a great mood as you watch your waist line decrease. Menopause can cause weight gain especially around the mid-section, the place that affects your health the most, so keep it under control with weight bearing aerobic activity. And don't forget to add stretching and weight training to the mix. This will help increase bone mass and reduce your risk of osteoporosis, which is a major health concern for women in menopause.
So be sure to stay active—it will definitely help keep your menopause symptoms under control.
