Natalie Davis is a healthy seven-year-old who loves playing Barbies with her sister. But just a few years ago Natalie was battling for her life when she was diagnosed with leukemia.
"I just remember I dropped right to my knees and I was like wow, you know that's big," says Dave Davis, Natalie's father.
Almost immediately the Davis' agreed to have Natalie participate in a clinical trials by the Children's Oncology Group or the COG. The COG is a network of hospitals, more than 200 in the U.S., Australia, and Canada, that share information. Ninety percent of all children with cancer in the U.S. are treated at COG Institutions.
Natalie's mom Jenny says "These are the ways that we can help kid's years down the road." The COG wants to see more results like Natalie's and reduce the long-term side effects childhood cancer survivors experience in adulthood.
