Musicians Willie Nelson and Jackson Browne recently starred in a concert to promote and raise money for the Give Love, Give Life campaign. Campaign founder John Trudell says, "Maybe if we try to raise awareness about the health of the women in some kind of a way it'll help lead to other things."
John and his longtime partner Marcia Labertrom, came up with the idea of a concert to raise money and awareness for women's cancers. Marcia fought ovarian cancer for seven years, and lost her battle just a few weeks before the concert.
"I think her presence was felt, I really do," says John, who also lost his mother to ovarian cancer when he was just six years old.
Dr. Beth Karlan says 90 percent of women who are diagnosed while the cancer is still confined to the ovaries survive. That means education and awareness are the keys to overcoming ovarian cancer.
