Award-winning actor Patrick Duffy has played many roles. Today, he's the leading man in an effort to get people moving. "There are millions of people in this country who think that exercise is out of their realm of possibility," says Duffy. And now he's part of a great program to show just about anyone can lace up their sneakers and start walking. Start! is one of the American Heart Association's latest movements to promote physical fitness and break down the obstacles that keep Americans from being active. Duffy insists it's not hard. "Start walking during your lunch break. Walk while you're doing a cell phone call instead of sitting at your desk. But start something." Regular walking has proven benefits. Just 30 minutes of brisk walking a day can lower cholesterol and high blood pressure and can help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
