Meals That Matter: Caregivers

Aired on Lifetime Television
Sunday, October 7 and November 25, 2007
Show 421

Memory loss is a concern for all aging adults. Things like preparing food and even remembering to eat can be a real problem, especially for people who live alone. But there are people who can help, people like Diane, a senior meals site supervisor. "They come here and they're able to have a meal," she says. But it's not just the great food the diners enjoy. "Many of the seniors experience loneliness being by themselves, and all weekend they're just totally alone," she says. "Usually they don't leave their apartments. They look forward to coming because we fill in the void," Diane says. She enjoys their companionship as well, giving her life purpose and meaning.
