Animals bring smiles to our faces, but can they help improve our health? Children and adults with physical challenges are experiencing amazing therapeutic results at the Avalon Therapeutic Equestrian Center in Wisconsin. Kate and Abigail have been riding at Avalon since they were two, with hopes of improving their muscle tone. "When they started, their sitting balance was very poor. Head control was very poor. Well, they're still certainly working on it but it has definitely improved," says the girls' occupational therapist, Jennifer Stamm. Other riders come to Avalon for different reasons. Ten-year-old Kirsten has autism. Her mother Angie Kruesel says, "By riding the horse, she's getting that input that she needs for her body which settles down her hypersensitivity."
