Dr. Lisa Thornton:
Every day we make choices that affect our health. And for the 20 million Americans who have diabetes, those choices can help prevent heart disease, vision loss and other serious complications.
Sara Herman, PharmD:
You know when I have a patient who brings me a new prescription for a diabetes measurement device, it really starts a whole new relationship.
Dr. Lisa Thornton:
That's great Sara. Not everyone who has diabetes has to test, but for those who do it becomes a part of their daily routine.
Sara Herman, PharmD:
Everyone who has diabetes needs to change the way they eat and drink, exercise and deal with stress.
Dr. Lisa Thornton:
It's really all about taking control.
Sara Herman, PharmD:
That's right Dr. Lisa. It can be a tricky balancing act to keep blood sugar levels at the right level. I always tell my patients, they need to focus on three things to stay in control of their diabetes. Medicine, diet and exercise.
