Gabby Marx:
Dr. Lisa, why do my dad and mom snore?
Dr. Lisa Thornton:
Snoring is really common and it happens because when you go to sleep, the back of your throat kind of relaxes and it falls down a little bit and you hear that snoring sound. Has anyone ever heard someone who snores so loud it wakes you up? Sometimes it can be a sign of something much more serious, something called sleep apnea, and sleep apnea can be serious. Even kids can get it. So parents, the important thing to know is that if you're not getting a good night's rest and you know that you snore, you don't want to ignore that. You probably want to get checked out, it could be sleep apnea.
