Your own creativity is the gift that keeps on giving. After all, you can run out of things to buy at the store, but exhausting your own imagination can be harder to do. So get creative with your kids this holiday season: try making gifts at home. There are plenty of personalized holiday projects you can do with photos. Start with a plain mouse pad you can buy at a discount store. Onto fusible fabric, print a favorite family photo and iron it right on to the mouse pad. Try the same thing with a tote bag. And if your little helpers want to get their hands dirty in the kitchen, try some better-for-you alternatives to classic holiday treats, like a graham cracker house instead of a gingerbread house. And rather than candy, your kids can decorate it with cereal. Give beyond your friends and family. Take your kids to visit an elderly neighbor or pack your holiday treats along with a food box or basket for a local shelter.
