Michaela Powell:
I hate the winter season. I can't even brush my hair without it sticking straight up! And Gabby just gave me a shock. Dr. Lisa, what's this all about?
Dr. Lisa Thornton:
Have you ever touched a doorknob or another person and gotten a shock? That's called static electricity. We get that because we tend to pick up extra electrical charges when the air is very dry. When we touch someone, we want to get rid of those charges and so you get a spark. You can get rid of it pretty easily – you can keep your skin really well-moisturized, your can wet your hair a little bit – even hair spray will take care of it.
