Keep It Clean: Kids Ask
Aired on Lifetime TelevisionSunday, January 13 and March 2, 2008Show 502
Michaela Powell:
My mom makes me wash my hands after just about everything. Taking out the trash, sneezing... but sometimes it's kind of hard to find a bathroom. Is it okay to use hand sanitizer instead?
Dr. Lisa Thornton:
The short answer is "yes." Antibacterial gels are very effective ways of getting rid of germs. Germs can live for a very long time on some surfaces—up to two hours. So when you touch them, you want to be sure you wash your hands. Whether you're using soap and water, or antibacterial gel, keep them clean.
