Show 313
Dr. Lisa chats one-on-one with Nancy Mercurio of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. "It's the largest breast cancer foundation in the US. Since its inception in 1982, it has raised $750 million dollars," says Nancy, who lost her mother to cancer. "The foundation started as a promise between sisters. When Susan was diagnosed, her sister promised to do everything possible to find a cure. Both the 3-Day Walk, and the Race for a Cure, raise money and awareness, and bring the disease out of the closet. And they are fun!" Nancy laughs. "I have walked 17 of the 3-Day, 60 mile walks. Afterwards, a Motrin goes a long way!" "What do you want other women to know about this disease?" Dr. Lisa asks. "The key is early detection. You know your body. If you find anything that doesn't seem right, go to your doctor and get it checked out!"
