Mom, We're Bored: Kids Corner
Aired on Lifetime Television
Sunday, January 20 and March 9, 2008
Show 503
Winter may not be everyone's favorite, but it's a wonderful time to reconnect with family and friends, share some hot chocolate and curl up with the latest best-seller. That is, until the kids inform you how bored they are. Winter blahs can set in, so be prepared with some creativity, ingenuity and a sense of adventure. Start by turning off the TV and making the most of your time at home together. Revisit old photo albums and scrapbooks, start a new one or dig through boxes in the attic to rediscover old favorite toys and games. Raiding the refrigerator is often a popular pastime for kids – but snacking on sodas and ice cream can actually stress the body more in the winter. Try body-boosting foods instead like a warm bowl of oatmeal, a baked potato or homemade soup. Once they're full of energy, venture out of the house and into someplace warm and dry, like a local museum, library, planetarium or aquarium – the possibilities are endless and so are the opportunities to spark your kids' imaginations.
