Choose to Move:
Health Story

Aired on Lifetime Television
Sunday, February 3 and March 23, 2008
Show 505

Marie Osmond has shown us she can dance; now she's showing other women the benefits of moving. Marie is helping the "Choose to Move" Challenge, a free physical activity and nutrition program from the American Heart Association. Choose to Move is inspiring hundreds of thousands in the fight against heart disease, which claims one in every three women – that's ten times worse than breast cancer. Marie's mother and grandmother both died from heart problems. She wants to follow a different path, and encourages all women to do the same. Meet seven women in the Choose to Move program who started with blood pressure, cholesterol and stress tests and spent 30 minutes per day doing moderate activity. The results over 12 weeks have been nothing short of amazing. One participant, Vernita Morgan, lost 24 pounds and saw her cholesterol drop from 314 to 228. She and other participants are helping other women with their goals in battling heart disease – and the Choose to Move program is helping to inform, educate and motivate as many as possible.
