It's the number one health threat to women in America: heart disease. It's making women see red, but this time it's a good thing. The Red Dress Event, which kicks off New York's Fashion Week, puts the issue of heart disease on display. Women from all over, including models, actresses, singers and First Lady Laura Bush, take part in the Red Dress Event, strut down the runway and raise awareness about the dangers of heart disease. Living a healthier lifestyle is key to reducing heart disease, and this event has helped over the past five years: rates of heart disease among women are showing some declines. The powerful color of red bursts out from the impressive collection of dresses worn by these women, and the dress becomes a symbol. Designers rally around the Red Dress Event, inspired to create a line of Heart Truth dresses that communicate the message and energy to help inspire women to live lives free from heart disease.
