Walk for Life: Fit in a Minute
Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, May 21 and July 9, 2006 Show 313
One of the easiest ways to get on the road to better health is to lace up a pair of walking shoes and, well...get on the road. A regular walking program without even changing your diet or joining a club can be the one of the best things you can do for yourself. Here, at the Cooper Aerobics Center, we've developed a program called Walk for Life. It's simple, it's free, and nearly anyone can do it almost anywhere. In the beginning, just walk a mile five days a week in less than 24 minutes. Trust me, that's not fast at all. Then each week, following these guidelines, walk a tad faster, and later, a bit farther. From the very first step you'll be happier, less stressed, and you'll get your appetite under control. It makes sense that walking can reduce your risk for heart disease, but it can also help prevent osteoporosis, arthritis, and even diabetes. So if you're looking for something that will make a world of difference, lace up and take your dog for a walk...even if you don't have one.
