In An Instant: Bob Woodruff Story
Aired on Lifetime Television
April 27 and June 8, 2008
Show 510
Just like the troops, a news reporter serving in Iraq is in constant danger. That danger came to a head when ABC News reporter Bob Woodruff was struck by a roadside bomb while working in a battle zone. His wife Lee recalls the shock after receiving a phone call and realizing that her husband, who suffered a traumatic brain injury, may never walk or talk again. She stayed with him throughout a long and difficult recovery, which included five weeks in a coma and extensive therapy in the hospital and at home. Bob spent months regaining memory and re-learning words. Her new book, In An Instant, chronicles their experience and they've established a foundation to raise awareness about traumatic brain injury (TBI), which is more common than HIV/AIDS, MS and breast cancer combined. In fact, TBI affects someone in the US every 23 seconds. Bob is back to reporting, but also spends a lot of time helping those who've suffered from TBI, especially from war injuries.
