Skinny on Skinny
Aired on Lifetime TelevisionApril 27 and June 8, 2008Show 510
A size zero dress... are you kidding? Don't let yourself be defined by your dress size. You want the "skinny" on skinny? The truth is, skinny doesn't tell the whole story. We can be skinny and unfit – or worse. It has a lot to do with your body type and whether you're naturally curvy. Curves are good! They should enhance, not hurt, your self-image. Did you know thin people have just as many fat cells as obese people? Each cell is just smaller. Here's a good rule of thumb for your body shape: your waist measurement should be 80 percent or less of your hip measurement. For example, a 28-inch waist divided by 36-inch hips comes out to 78 percent. There's nothing wrong with that – in fact, that's awesome! Here's another plus: researchers have found that curvy-figured women are likely to produce more intelligent offspring, making embracing your curves a "smart" move. Remember, trim and tone is hotter than skin and bones, and that applies to everyone.
