Eldercare: Dr. Marion Somers

Aired on Lifetime Television
July 6 and August 24, 2008
Show 514

Caregiving can be a tough journey to navigate, but there are some steps you can follow to make it easier. During the past three decades, Marion Somers, Ph.D., (Doctor Marion) has provided care for more than 2,000 elderly clients while she owned and operated a thriving Geriatric Care Management practice. Dr. Somers, author of Elder Care Made Easier, offers up 10 things every caregiver should know and take into account. She discusses the importance of communicating openly, putting safety first, improving lifestyles by decreasing isolation and providing adaptive equipment, managing financial issues, caring for legal matters, finding mobility in disability, finding proper housing, hiring help when needed and finally, learning to let go.
