No Excuse: Kathy Smith

"I'm too tired to work out," "It's too cold... too warm… too whatever!" Excuses... excuses. It's not always easy to find the motivation to work out. So on those days when the excuses are piling up, here's what I do: I think about how I'll feel after my work out. Once the blood flows and the endorphins kick in I feel energized and alive. I think about the social aspect of exercising. You know a chance to have a good talk with a friend while hiking, or re-connect with my daughter while doing yoga together. I keep in mind that exercise is cumulative. So dividing your workout into two parts – some in the morning, some in the evening – is just as good as doing it in one session. And I always listen to my body. If I'm not up to speed today, I slow down -- simple as that. So get rid of the excuses to not work out and find an excuse to get moving.
