Meet Debbie D'Amico and her four children. Thirteen years ago, Debbie lost a leg while pregnant and her twins were born prematurely. Both have cerebral palsy, and one of the girls needs constant care. Another daughter has a genetic disorder that causes dwarfism, and the fourth girl is healthy. From a wheelchair, Debbie home schools the kids, runs the household, and provides care. She believes that one-on-one care is very important. "The kids are there for each other and we laugh together a lot," she says. Dr. Jamie Huysman notes that love and laughter cure many ills. "This family has also tapped into the community and their church. These are two very important resources."
