Kids Ask Dr. Lisa:Eating Healthy for a Lifetime
Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, August 27 and December 3Show 322
When children are still little is the best time to teach them healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime. The foods they learn to like before the age of two are the same foods they get to enjoy as they age. Did you know it can take 10 to 15 tries to learn to like a new food? If your little one makes a face, it could mean "I just don't know what this is." And maybe it's not that they don't like it. Gerber Foods has a wide verity of fruits and vegetables in convenient portion control containers. We have purees, dices, and we even have our new mini fruits and veggies, which are freeze dried pieces of fruit. There are a few things you can do to help your youngsters. Be a role model for them. Let them see you eating lots of fruits and vegetables and they will want to eat them too. And every day, try to get five a day. Five fruits and vegetables in your diet from a wide verity of colors. Remember-try, try again. Lots of tries. Variety. And, be a role model. Healthy habits now mean healthy habits later on in life.
Health Corner thanks Cathie Squatrito, RD, for her advice and ideas.
