That Certain Something

Today more than ever, men are discovering how fitness and grooming can enhance a positive self image. Daily deep cleansing keeps pores clear. Men have approximately 15 percent oilier skin and significantly larger pores than women do. Mild cleansers containing ingredients like chamomile or aloe soothe and alleviate irritation. For oily skin, try an antibacterial cleanser. Or one with hydroxy acid to deep clean pores and remove acne-causing bacteria. After cleansing, try an alcohol free toner to help remove traces of soap residue, surface skin cells and excess oil. Toners also work to tighten pores and leave skin feeling fresh and totally clean. Shaving is a necessity for most men, but it can cause your skin to be easily irritated. A glycerin or aloe base shaving cream or gel can help soothe skin and allow the razor to glide across your face. Remember to shave with the grain, not against it for the best results, and least amount of irritation. Be sure to steer clear of alcohol based after shaves that irritate your skin. Finally, look for an oil-free moisturizer that has several benefits such as soothing shaving irritation, healing dry skin, fighting signs of aging with retinol and containing a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher. They may not admit it, but men want That Certain Something, too.
