Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, June 25 and October 22, 2006 Show 317
Sometimes it's difficult to remember all of the rules about exercise. And there are a lot of them. Like the one about never swimming after you eat. But are these exercise myths or facts? You have probably heard someone say—no pain, no gain. This is really just one of the many myths and fallacies about exercise. In fact, exercising to the point of pain can do a lot of harm. Everyone knows you have to wait 30 minutes after you eat before you swim. Well, that wisdom is a little bit outdated, but it does make sense to delay any type of exercise after an especially large meal. Let's look at another exercise rule. If you exercise, you can eat whatever you want. For most of us, a good diet and good nutrition go hand in hand. Don't reward yourself with a piece of chocolate cake just for walking around the block. But a small piece of chocolate cake could be your reward for losing five pounds by sticking to a good diet and exercise program. Remember, it's always important to celebrate and enjoy your life.
