Dr. James Maas:
Dr. Lisa's Interview

Aired on Lifetime Television for Women
Sunday, October 1 and December 17
Show 325

"Sleep is central to good mood and good health," says Dr. James Maas author of "Power Sleep." "Let's get back to basics. Why is it so important?" asks Dr. Lisa. "We need a required amount of sleep to be happy and healthy. And we need to go through all five stages of sleep to get the right quality of sleep every night," says Dr. Maas. "How exactly does sleep effect health?" asks Dr. Lisa. "Sleep has a strong effect on the heart and plays a role in type 2 diabetes," Dr. Maas says. Almost 73 percent of people who only sleep four hours per night are obese. "What about those who have a hard time sleeping?' asks Dr. Lisa. "If you go through a rough time getting to sleep, it's safe to occasionally use an over-the-counter sleep aid for a better tomorrow," says Dr. Maas.
