Core Strength Training: Fit in a Minute
Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, April 2 and June 11, 2006 Show 310
Are you feeling a little weak, a little wobbly like you're losing balance or coordination? The muscles around your midsection are really important for balance and coordination. Don't worry, all you have to do is get on the ball. The stability ball can help train your core muscles. They are the muscles between your knees and diaphragm, which are very important as a foundation. It doesn't matter if your arms and legs are strong. If you don't have good core strength, you're going to have problems. There are literally hundreds of exercises you can do to help improve your core strength and stability. And the equipment is all very affordable. I suggest using a personal trainer, at least at first to develop a routine that works for you. And you might also try a routine which combines cardiovascular, strength, and balance training all at once. As we get older, we need to be less concerned with sculpting our body and more concerned about improving our stability and balance. Core training helps you do that, and you'll be very surprised to find out how quickly you'll see results.
