Kids Ask:
Why Do We Need to Floss?

Aired on Lifetime Television
Sunday, April 2 and June 11, 2006
Show 310

Michaela Powell and Alex Smith:

Dr. Lisa, why do we need to floss our teeth—isn't brushing enough?

Dr. Lisa Thornton:

If you don't floss, you're more likely to get gum disease. Now that's bad enough. But it can lead to even worse problems. The germs in your gums can enter your blood stream and eventually make it to your heart, and that can lead to heart disease and stroke. So keep brushing and flossing. Make it part of your bedtime routine.
