"I find this more stressful than a combat zone," says 24-year US Army veteran Cynthia Gagnon about the strain of caring for her father alone. "I said to myself - it's not about me, it's about him. I have to accept it. But I didn't realize how angry I had become. The care givers support network that I found through Leeza's Place was an essential tool in my ability to take care of my dad, and myself," says Cynthia. "Leeza's Place is about energy, empowerment and less stress," says Dr. Jamie. "Stress is so depleting," says Leeza. "You may need to find help through a counselor or third party. Don't try to do everything alone. There are too many emotions involved." "A combat zone is a good metaphor for care giving because it can be traumatic. Every day you need to ask yourself three questions. What have I done for my body, my mind and my soul? You need to take care of yourself first," says Dr. Jamie.
