Winter Weather Fitness: Fit in a Minute
Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, January 15 and May 7, 2006 Show 302
Does your exercise routine take the winter off? You should not use winter weather as an excuse to stop exercising. All you need is a few tips to learn how to deal with the cold. When it's really cold, be sure to wear gloves and a hat. At least 30 percent of heat loss escapes from your head. And be sure to dress in layers. Also in winter, it's especially important to take an extra five or ten minutes to stretch and warm up before you begin anything strenuous. And don't forget to drink plenty of water. Hydration is just as important in the winter as it is in the summer. You just don't notice your thirst as much. So there is no reason not to exercise because it's cold. Just be sure to prepare properly and enjoy your workout.
