Baby Skin Care: Health Story
Aired on Lifetime Television for WomenSunday, January 15 and May 7Show 302
"Almost 60 percent of babies suffer from clinically dry skin," says Susan Nettesheim, Vice President of R&D at Johnson and Johnson. "Baby skin is very different from adult skin. Baby skin absorbs and loses water faster than adult skin. It's also growing more rapidly, so it's more vulnerable to stress," she adds. To combat dryness, a range of new products have been developed especially for babies. These products have a multitude of vitamin E, minerals, and amino acids. Pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Trachtenberg of Mount Sinai in New York City says, "To hold more moisture, I advise parents to apply moisturizer to their baby's skin while it is still wet."
