Efficient Exercise: Fit in a Minute
Aired on Lifetime Television Sunday, January 22 and March 5, 2006 Show 303
Exercise isn't a one-size-fits-all proposition. We all have different lifestyles and circumstances. So you have to adapt how you workout to your particular situation. At the Cooper Aerobic Center, we look at exercise as having three dimensions. Think of the acronym FIT. FIT is a way of looking at the effectiveness or the balance of how we exercise. Say one week you can't work out as many days as normal. Then on the days you do work out, you can work out a little bit harder or a little bit longer. Maybe you don't feel you can find a 30 or 40 minute exercise window every other day, then try 15 to 20 minutes every day. Walking two miles in 30 minutes, three times a week is just the same as walking two miles in 40 minutes, five times a week. So if you give up in one dimension, be sure to add to the others. Tailor your exercise program to your particular lifestyle.
