Dr. Robert Cohen: Dr. Lisa's Interview

Aired on Lifetime Television
Sunday, January 22 and March 5, 2006
Show 303

"Is the number of people being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease rising?" asks Dr. Lisa. "Yes," according to Dr. Robert Cohen of the American Lung Association, "especially in women. Women are more sensitive to lung disease. And more women are smoking." "Tell me about the spirometry test?" Dr. Lisa asks. "This is a great screening tool and it's very simple. You merely blow air into a machine and early damage to the lungs will show up. COPD is not curable, but very treatable. With a good exercise program, and medications, we can reduce inflammation and get the most lung function," says Dr. Cohen.
