Your waistline says a whole lot about your health. There are all sorts of high tech expensive medical devices that can help you assess your health. But one of the best ways to do it is right here with a tape measure. It can measure an incredibly important vital sign, your waist circumference. New research has shown that men have a high risk of heart disease, diabetes and stroke when their waistline reaches 40 inches or more. For ladies the cut point is 35 inches or more. The good news is that abdominal fat, or what is called visceral fat, is fairly easy to lose. Walking just 30 minutes a day most days of the week will attack that fat first and help shrink your waist down to size. So remember, what you weigh is not nearly as important as how you weigh. If you happen to carry a lot of weight around your midsection, then it is time to get off the couch and take the dog for a walk.
